Career Highlights:
Professor Provitera began his career in management and finance in the financial services industry, originally working for Merrill Lynch on Wall Street. After completing his academic studies and earning his DBA at Nova Southeastern University, Provitera began a career in higher education at Saint Peter’s College as Assistant Professor in September 2000.
In January 2004, he transferred to Barry University in Miami, Florida, where he was an assistant academic coordinator for the administration division of the School of Professional and Career Education and served for many years on the faculty. He has been responsible for course development in the administration concentration in both the undergraduate and graduate programs and has participated on several search committees for new faculty and staff. His latest online course development has been two leadership courses–one undergraduate and one graduate–using the Academic Partnerships procedure
His academic interests are primarily in the areas of management education, motivation, transformational leadership, knowledge management, social capital view, strategic management, and organizational behavior. He is currently a management consultant for the City of North Miami through the PACE Training and Development division. He is also an author of several books on leadership and motivation.
Publications:
Dr. Provitera is the author of the books Mastering Self-Motivation: Preparing Yourself for Personal Excellence, which is written for undergraduate students and business owners. Bringing Together the Academic and Popular Literature is written for graduate students and executives. His recent book, Leading Between the Lines, is designed for executives by applying academic theory and application. He published and presented his research in various venues across North America and is active in the Academy of Management. For many years, Dr. Provitera served as a management consultant to businesses and corporate clients. He has written proprietary reports based on studies and analyses of business practices.

Using the four functions of management: controlling, leading, organizing, and planning. Think about your own personal vision, mission, goals and objectives. Consider applying this idea to your work.
