As a Military Friendly® School, Barry University is dedicated to assisting active military members and veterans with the best opportunities for continuing their education. Barry's School of Professional and Career Education (PACE) is a member of the Servicemembers Opportunity Colleges (SOC) Consortium. We provide flexible policies that allow service members and their families to complete degrees rather than just accumulate course credit.
SOC members are committed to following SOC principles, which include the following:
- Reasonable Transfer of Credit: Avoid excessive loss of previously earned credit and coursework duplication
- Credit for Military Training and Experience: Recognize and use PACE Guide to the Evaluation of Educational Experiences in the Armed Services in evaluating and awarding academic credit for military training and experience
- Credit for Nationally Recognized Testing Programs: Credit for programs such as the College-Level Examination Program (CLEP) or the General and Subject Exams (DANTES)
- Credit for Experiential Learning: PACE provides opportunities for credit from prior learning, work and service experience, through our Experiential Learning Portfolio (ELP) program, and credits for licensures and certifications
