The 100 percent online Master of Science in Educational Leadership with Florida Certification program from Barry University is designed for Florida-certified teachers seeking to obtain Level I certification in Florida.
In this accelerated online educational leadership program, you will explore models and theories of organizational development; examine the policies, practices, and strategies of school and community relations; and study instructional design, measurement, and evaluation. You will also examine federal and state education laws━with emphasis on Florida school law━and learn how to make ethically sound decisions in the planning, recruitment, selection, retention, evaluation and termination processes within the school environment.
With an internship* embedded into the program, you can prepare to become a principal, district leader, or school administrator in as few as 12 months.

Pay for Your Online Program by the Course
Students in the Master of Science in Educational Leadership with Florida Certification online program can pay for each course as they enroll. There is a $30 application fee, but all other fees are included in the total cost of tuition.

Qualifications for Barry’s Educational Leadership Certification Program
The Adrian Dominican School of Education admission process has specific requirements that students must meet to enroll in the Master of Science in Educational Leadership with Florida Certification online program. Students must submit official transcripts from all previous institutions attended, along with a professional resume and an essay no more than one page in length.

Admission Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution
- Valid teaching certificate
- Two years teaching experience (or related work experience)
- Minimum 3.0 GPA
- GRE waiver with 3.0 GPA on undergraduate transcript (if under 3.0, provisional admittance pending receipt of GRE/MAT)
- No minimum GRE/MAT score required
- Professional resume with two current professional references OR two letters of recommendation
- Statement of purpose essay integrated into the online application

A Look at the MS in Educational Leadership - Florida Certification Curriculum
To earn the Master of Science in Educational Leadership with Florida Certification online, students must complete 12 courses for a total of 36 credits. All courses are taught by the same distinguished faculty who teach on campus and are seven weeks in length.
EDR 601: Methodology of Research

This course explores major research designs and methods emphasizing underlying assumptions, inquiry aims, participant selection, data collection and analysis, interpretation of findings, conclusions, and reporting.
EDU 614: Visionary Leadership in Education

This course explores models and theories of organizational development and their application to the development and maintenance of educational organizations.
EDU 615: Ethics and Communication for Leaders

This course develops student communication skills, an understanding of leadership ethics and an understanding of the behavior of people who work and live within organizations.

This course explores the principal's roles and responsibilities as related to organizational development, information systems, faculty and staff selection, orientation, supervision and evaluation, curriculum development, implementation, scheduling, budgeting, and plant/facilities use.

This course provides a broad overview of the field of data-driven teaching and learning Students will also analyze the leadership qualities needed to transform educational environments through the constructive, meaningful development and implementation of assessment practices and data evaluation.

This course examines federal and state education laws, with particular emphasis on Florida school law.

This course is designed to introduce students to the field of school personnel administration by providing an in-depth look at topics students will utilize within a school setting. This course encourages reflective thinking that will assist students in making ethically sound decisions in the planning, recruitment, selection, retention, evaluation, and termination processes within the school environment.

This course prepares the student to apply technology to the areas of administration and instruction in educational institutions.
EDU 699: Internship in Educational Leadership
Duration: 7 weeks | Credits: 3
This course provides leadership experiences in an educational institution or agency corresponding to the student's graduate program, certification objectives, educational experiences and career goals. Prerequisites: 30 credits in Educational Leadership; an overall GPA of 3.0 or higher; no more than 2 "C"s in coursework; and all "F"s, "I"s, and "IP"s supplanted with passing grades.

*The EDU 699 Internship in Educational Leadership course is a required course for students seeking certification in Educational Leadership. During this course, students design and implement a 10-week project to address an administrative challenge or a student achievement need at the school site where the student is assigned. They are also required to complete an in-depth analysis of the program and participate in 150 hours of administrative leadership activities at the school. A portfolio is developed and submitted by the student as documentation of the completed project and leadership activities requirement. A University supervisor is assigned to each intern to be a mentor and facilitator with the school site administrator.
